2012 Competition in Huntsville Alabama

This is the Atomic Aggies first Rocket competition. This is a national competition in which NASA hosts and has over 50 teams competing. Schools from all over the nation enter this competition by writing a proposal to NASA. NASA then chooses their top schools from the best written proposals to be invited to this competition. The competition will be held in Huntsville, Alabama from April 18 to 22. The criteria of the competition is to successfully launch a rocket to the height of 1 mile, record sensor data, track the rocket with a GPS, recover the rocket so it can be used again, take pictures from onboard camera and transmit all recorded data to a computer. Each of the criteria is evaluated by NASA and they give points for how successful each portion is accomplished. Throughout the school year teams also earn points for their progress in building the rocket. There are 3 video conferences that each team participates with NASA where each team must give NASA detailed information on the progress of the rocket. In April, all the teams travel to Huntsville to launch their rockets. The winner of the competition will be announced in May.
